Camille Claudel 1915

Camille Claudel was a great sculptor and artist, considered among the best of her generation. She also had a notorious affair with fellow sculptor Auguste Rodin. But in 1915, that was the past. After destroying most of her work, and accusing ex-lover Rodin of stealing her work and plotting to kill her, her brother had her confined to an asylum, where she had already spent two years.

Binoche delivers a powerhourse performance as Claudel, convinced of her essential sanity, and dismayed by her harrowing surroundings. The only thing she can look forward to is a visit from her brother Paul (Jean-Luc Vincent), which brings with it a faint hope of release.

Winner of 4 Awards, and nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, “Camille Claudel, 1915” is the seventh film from acclaimed director Bruno Dumont.
