In folk legend, Ned Kelly has become the archetypal Aussie battler – an underdog who fought for his family’s rights despite oppression from those in power. Immortalized in many films (including the world’s first feature film, “The Story of the Kelly Gang”, works of art and song, who really was the man behind the helmet?

New insight into Kelly’s life and its impact is given by descendants of the Kelly family, who have often been burdened by the shadow of their famous ancestor.

“Besieged – The Ned Kelly Story” examines the life of the infamous bushranger and expounds the legend from early indiscretions and the formation of his gang through to the violent killings at Stringy Bark Creek, culminating in his explosive last stand and shoot out at Glenrowan. With all the available facts in hand, was Ned Kelly an outlaw, a freedom fighter or simply a murderer with a message?
