The Go - Betweens Right Here

With beautifully crafted, wonderfully idiosyncratic pop songs like Streets Of Your Town, Cattle And Cane, and Head Full Of Steam, the Brisbane-born The Go-Betweens quietly announced themselves as a musical force to be reckoned with in the late seventies and eighties. Their principal singer/songwriters – the flamboyant Robert Forster and the more mercurial Grant McLennan – have even retrospectively been hailed as Australia’s Lennon and McCartney.

But Behind every one of their great songs lies a backstory of jealousy, doomed romance, bruised egos, and personal pain. Though they never cracked the Top 40, The Go-Betweens are every bit as important (and probably twice as interesting) to Australian musical history as Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, or Powderfinger.

In his deeply moving, richly intimate documentary, The Go-Betweens: Right Here, director, Kriv Stenders (Boxing Day, Red Dog, Lucky Country, Red Dog: True Blue, TV’s The Principal), Tells the fascinating story of this seminal band from the inside out, uncovering the betrayals, the failures, and the quiet triumphs that made The Go-Betweens so great. A must for both hardcore fans and absolute beginners, The Go-Betweens: Right Here is a musical journey like no other.
